Real Estate: What Can You get In Addison County Vermont for $870,000?
The New York Times recently ran an article in its real estate section on “What You Get for … $870,000”. The article featured spectacular images of beautiful homes in Bozeman, Montana, Covington, Louisiana (just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans), and a home in Stowe, Vermont.
These homes have several common elements such as: gourmet kitchens, guest rooms, and French doors. But the two most obvious takeaways from the article are: great photography sells and you can get a lot for $870,000!
According to the National Association of Realtors, the US existing home median sale price for the first quarter is in the area of $185,000. Zillow says that the median sale price for an existing Vermont home is $229,900. $870,000 buys a lot of home in Addison County, where the home median sale price is in the neighborhood of $220,000.
We found two Addison County homes for sale in the NYT price range. Both feature lots of acreage, amazing stone fireplaces, and spectacular mountain views. While the photography may not be Sunday Times quality, the homes certainly are.
