John created the Swift House Inn in Middlebury in 1985 and for 18 years owned and operated its Four Diamond Award-winning Inn and Restaurant. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, worked for IBM for 28 years prior to becoming an innkeeper, and holds degrees in Management and Economics from Rutgers University and Lafayette College. He has served as a Director for the Vermont State and Addison County Chambers of Commerce, as well as for the Andy Fund, United Way and Counseling Service of Addison County. John is currently President-Elect of the Vermont Commercial/Investment Board of Realtors.

Christine has resided in Lincoln for 30 years, and has been employed for 24 years in many capacities for Middlebury College Museum of Art. In 1998 she joined her husband, John, in operating the Swift House Inn. She graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Art History and earned an M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Denver, Colorado. She has served as a member of the Middlebury College board of the Friends of the Art Museum, Addison County Hospice and attends regular gatherings for the Middlebury Garden Club. Special interests include landscape/garden design and fine art framing, herbalist studies.
