Vermont Tennis Anyone?

dandelionYou might imagine that a grass tennis court in the verdant state of Vermont is a hard court that has succumbed to the persistent whims of mother nature: dandelions popping up along the service line. But Vermont’s reputation of yodeling VonTrapps and colorfully clad snowboarders has somewhat overshadowed our state’s stellar summer scene. Really, Vermont has summer and tennis!

We’ve even got grass tennis courts. We also have clay courts and hard courts. Sometimes we even have champagne and strawberries! According to the Wall Street Journal, “Vermont had the largest percentage of single-family home listings boasting a residential tennis court [as of May last year]… Overall, Northeast states dominated the list: Connecticut came in third, followed by Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York.” (

We also have no shortage of tennis resorts, tennis vacations, or tennis clubs. A search of the US Tennis Associations website reveals a list of great places across the state to get your game on. Locally, the Basin Harbor Club is a go-to tennis and golf Mecca (check out this terrific Ferrisburgh VT property right in the midst of the fun at Basin Harbor) and Middlebury even has indoor tennis facilities (this historic Middlebury home on Seminary Street is walking distance).

Enjoy some tennis in Vermont without the unbearable heat of London. The heat there this summer (it was 27C at Wimbledon last week) is the pits of the world!

But if all this green is not your cup of tea, Christine is a Sotheby’s International Realtor with FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) certification. She can help you buy that sweet little tennis property anywhere on the globe.
